Collegiate Chapters

Two years ago, Lakeland Community College organized the first AFP Community College Collegiate Chapter in the country.  Today, the Lakeland and John Carroll chapters are the only collegiate chapters in Northeast Ohio.  Students’ career interests range from development to human services. Other student members are simply interested in learning more about the nonprofit world, and the crucial impact philanthropy has within the community.

The AFP Cleveland Chapter has also been talking with representatives of other colleges in Northeast Ohio, to gauge their interest in forming their own collegiate chapters.  While still in the development phase,  AFP is considering the creation of an umbrella collegiate chapter that would encompass the entire metropolitan area.  Plans would also allow for students at colleges that do not yet have established chapters to participate in AFP events, under the umbrella group.
