AFP of Greater Cleveland's volunteers are the strength and soul of our organization. You can enhance your membership experience by joining one of the following committees. Please consult the 2008 Board roster for contact information, or call Susan Austin Carney, Chapter Administrator at 216.696.1613.

The External Relations Committee is responsible for the oversight of legislative matters, community partnerships such as AFP's marketing partnership with RightUp Media, special programs such as Youth in Philanthropy, and communications including the Chapter newsletter, web site, public relations and publicity. External Relations subcommittees include the Communications Committee, National Philanthropy Day® Publicity Committee, Youth in Philanthropy, Government and Community Relations. Contact William J. Kimball, DMin., CFRE.

The Membership Committee is responsible for the oversight of activities related to the recruitment and retention of members such as mentoring, career planning and placement, and scholarships. Subcommittees include Diversity, Scholarship, Mentoring and Career Opportunities. Contact Michael J. Parry, CFRE.

National Philanthropy Day® recognizes the contributions of philanthropy—and those people active in the philanthropic community—to the enrichment of our world. More than 100 AFP chapters in North America celebrate this special day. The Greater Cleveland Chapter (AFPGC) holds an awards luncheon each November that recognizes charitable accomplishments throughout the region by honoring a local philanthropist, fundraising volunteer, foundation, corporation and student involved with philanthropy. Professional development workshops and a vendor exhibition are also available for those involved in the philanthropic community. National Philanthropy Day® is AFPGC's largest fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting member scholarships and annual programming. Contact Carol L. Carbary, CFRE.

The Professional Development Committee is responsible for the oversight of professional education opportunities for members and the fundraising community such as the Essentials in Fundraising course and CFRE education and training, professional development activities, and the Chapter's Annual Meeting. Contact Dianne Dillon.

The Resource Development Committee is responsible for the oversight of activities related to National Philanthropy Day events and awards and the annual Every Member Campaign. In addition, the committee creates opportunities for corporate sponsorships, foundation grants and individual philanthropic support of local AFP programs. Contact Karen J. Kannenberg, CFRE.
